Rent rises in 2009

In April, rents will be going up which we know could hit people hard. But, like all social landlords, we charge rents using rules which the Government sets.

The Government wants council and housing association rents to be fairer and to stay affordable in the future.  

By 2012, rents on all social housing homes should be based on their size and condition and the local area they're in.    

To protect tenants from rent going up by a lot in a short time, the Government is giving landlords until 2012 to hit the new target rents.
