Paying your rent

Paying your rent

The rent you pay covers the cost of the services we provide to all our residents. This makes it important that everyone pays on time.

How rent is set

The rent you pay is based on the value of your home, the number of bedrooms, local and national wages  and social housing property prices.

This means rent will vary depending on the type and size of your home and where it is. Rents go up once a year, usually at the start of April.

When to pay

Rent is charged to your account weekly and is payable fortnightly. It must be with us on the first Monday of each fortnight or each month in advance.

There are two weeks a year when you do not have to make a rent payment, unless your account is in arrears. These are in March and December and will be shown on your rent payment schedule.

How much to pay

You must pay the amount shown on your rent statement. You may also need to pay a service charge. This usually applies to people who live in flats. It covers the cost of things like cleaning and lighting in shared hallways and grass cutting in shared areas.
